This image was only taken recently in April 2009 while Afi was practicing his patterns leading up to his II dan grading. I rediscovered it while looking for something else. Notice the patterns of sweat on his forehead... look close and you'll see how hard he's been working.
I like the image. Trying to figure out why can be hard. I think it is because it is contemplative due to him looking down, is reasonably sharp, is nicely square on to the camera and looks great in black and white.
