Rediscovered Image: The Impact of Light

I hope you're not getting sick of my images from this one pre-World Champs training session at Impact Club back in May 2007. I've revisited the images recently and pulled out a few that I thought were extra special and hadn't been highlighted before. The reason they work so well for me is the conditions of the light at this time late on a Sunday afternoon. In the last few years I don't think I've had a repeat of as good a conditions for TKD photography as on this day.

Anyway, you can see the massive impact good lighting has on the images by comparing these two below.

The image above (and below left) has sunlight highlighting Mark Trotter's upper body and face and also adds interest by lighting up Carolina's neck, shoulder and arm.

Contrast it alongside the photo on the right below which is also a nice image in many respects (posture, technique, eyes visible etc) but the sun has gone behind a cloud and the light has gone flat.
